Tottenham transfer news: Ben Davies and Michel Vorm arrive at White Hart Lane as Gylfi Sigurdsson returns to Swansea

Swap deal completed as Davies and Vorm arrive in North London

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the signing of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm from Swansea City, while Gylfi Sigurdsson heads in the opposite direction for a second spell at the Liberty Stadium.

New Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been tasked with getting the North Londoners back into Champions League contention after a lukewarm campaign which eventually saw both Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood lose their jobs.

Davies, the highly-rated Welsh full-back who has long been linked with a switch to one of the Premier League's bigger clubs, signs a five-year deal while Vorm has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at White Hart Lane.

Sigurdsson, on the other hand, returns to the club where he made eighteen appearances on loan from Hoffenheim in 2012, as Gary Monk prepares for his first full season in charge of the Swans.

Upon completing the deal, Davies spoke to the Spurs website and thanked the Swansea supporters.

"I had never thought or wanted to leave Swansea, but an opportunity like this doesn’t come up often in your career.

“I will always be grateful for what Swansea City has done for me and it will always be the club in my heart.

“Having been at the club since the age of eight, I had to think long and hard about leaving because I owe everything to the staff and the club in general."

With a better chance of starting in North London than Vorm, who must first depose Hugo Lloris, the 21-year-old starlet was pictured in training with his new teammates yesterday.

Upon re-signing for Swansea, Sigurdsson said: “It’s fantastic for me. I really enjoyed the last time I was here, so it’s good to be back.

“I was here for four months and I have a lot of good memories. Hopefully this time it will be even better.

“I really enjoyed my time at Spurs. It was tough leaving a club that I’ve enjoyed playing for over the last few years, but as soon as Swansea came in it was an easy decision to make.”
