Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has once again reiterated that he is not close to finalising any additions to his squad, but has admitted that anything can happen between now and the 11pm transfer deadline on Friday night.

The Evening Standard has reported that talks are ongoing between the north London club and Julian Draxler of Schalke, while the Gunners are also negotiating a loan move for Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic as a back-up option.

Wenger did confirm that the club is active in the market, but wanted to stress that any potential deals are far from complete.

Wenger told the official Arsenal website: “Are we active? Yes. Are we close to sign anybody? No.

“There's not long now that's true. First, the situation was going like always in a transfer market - week by week. In the last two weeks it goes day by day, now it goes hour by hour.

“In any hour anything can happen or change but at the moment, unfortunately, we are not signing anybody.”

Wenger also confirmed that Jack Wilshere will miss Sunday's match against Crystal Palace and said Aaron Ramsey will not return for 'some weeks.

“For Sunday he [Wilshere] will be short but he has a chance to be available for the week after at Liverpool.”

“Ramsey will be out for longer because he had a setback and it doesn’t look too good. It is a matter of some weeks for him.”
