Former Liverpool striker Steve Nicol believes Liverpool will sell Luis Suarez next summer – if they receive a bid of £100m for the Uruguay forward.

Suarez demanded a transfer last summer with Real Madrid interested, but now appears to be happy at Anfield again after returning from his 10-match ban. Nicol, who won five league titles, three FA Cups, and the European Cup during 13 trophy-laden years at Anfield, believes if Suarez impresses at the World Cup tournament in Brazil next summer he could become the world’s most expensive player.

“Liverpool owner John W Henry will do what’s best for Liverpool and, after the World Cup next summer, if someone offers £100m [he could leave],” Nicol told talkSPORT.

“The question is, what’s going through Suarez’s head? Is he playing out of his skin so he keeps this deal to go to Real Madrid alive?”

While Nicol says a move for Suarez could happen next summer, he says that he is so sure the 26-year-old will not be sold in January, he will “stick his mortgage” on it.

“I don’t believe he’ll move,” he said. “I always thought, if Liverpool were in contention for a top four spot, they wouldn’t let him go. They will be in January so he won’t be going anywhere.

“There’s absolutely no chance Liverpool will let Luis Suarez go in January. I’ll stick my mortgage on that one. There’s no way it’s going to happen.”
