Monaco are readying a bid for Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany according to reports in France. The figure they will offer is £17m, which seems low for arguably the best defender in the Premier League. Even if the French side doubled that figure, it seems unlikely City would want to get rid of him.

Another Premier League defender who might be heading abroad in the near future is David Luiz. The Chelsea player will be the subject of a £29m bid from Barcelona, who tracked him in the summer, during the January transfer window.

Stephan El Shaarawy

According to, Arsenal are in 'secret talks' to sign AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy in a £21m deal. One thing for sure is that those talks (if they have in fact been taking place) are no longer secret. The other is that Shaarawy would bring a new dimension to the haircuts on show in the Premier League.

West Ham are expected to invest in January knowing relegation would be disastrous with a move to the Olympic Stadium on the horizon. They've already been linked with Diego Forlan and Diego Milito - but it would appear they're also interested in players who aren't called Diego. Former Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins is the latest rumour, with the 29-year-old available to go out on loan from his current team Seattle Sounders during the MLS off-season.

Erik Lamela hasn't really done much since arriving at White Hart Lane - or at least certainly not enough to justify the £30m Tottenham paid for him. According to reports, the Argentina international could be set for a swift exit, with Atletico Madrid interested in taking him on loan.
