The Premier League's January transfer window is upon us with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all set to be busy.
Liverpool were the summer's biggest spenders with no fewer than four new arrivals. Goalkeeper Alisson was the headline-grabber with the Brazilian already proving worth every penny of the world-record fee the Reds shelled out for the Brazilian. Could long-term target Nabil Fekir join him next month? United got a couple of new faces in through the door in the summer but it hasn't made a difference with Jose Mourinho out and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in. Will he spend them out of trouble in the January sales?
Chelsea have made the biggest splash with the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic while Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal could all choose to dip their toes in the water as they battle for an all-important top four spot. Good morning and welcome to today's Independent transfer live blog.
The January window is upon us with the Premier League’s biggest clubs set to spend, spend, spend as the sales re-open.
We'll bring you all the latest news plus all the done deals and the juiciest gossip throughout the day right here so don't touch that dial.
Without further ado, off we go.
We'll start today with Tottenham where Christian Eriksen is said to be stalling on a new contract.
His current deal has another 18 months to run but despite talks he is yet to put pen to paper according to the Evening Standard.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of a number of clubs interested in the Danish midfielder.
Juventus have confirmed they are interested in signing Aaron Ramsey this summer.
The Arsenal midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer when his current Gunners contract expires.
There has been plenty of interest in him from within the Premier League, especially from Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as from abroad.
As of January 1 clubs in Europe can negotiate with the Welsh international with sporting director Fabio Paratici hinting the Serie A leaders will look to do so.
"Yes, we are interested in Aaron Ramsey," he told Sky Sports in Italy. "He's a great midfielder but at the moment he's an Arsenal player. We will see."
Tammy Abraham's future appears up in the air.
The Sun report that Wolves have submitted an £18m bid for the England U21 international.
Chelsea remain insistent that there have been no bids.
Abraham could stay at Aston Villa - where he's in fine form - or choose to jump at the chance of Premier League football.
One to watch.
To Manchester United now where Ashley Young could be set for a move away.
The winger/defender/wherever any manager asks him to play's contract is up at the end of the season with foreign clubs now able to negotiate with him.
One of those is said to be Inter Milan, according to the Mirror, who want to snap up the former England man for free in the summer.
Arsenal are another side who could move for reinforcements this month.
One of those could be Chelsea's Gary Cahill although Unai Emery was tight-lipped on such matters when quizzed on Sunday.
Fulham are also keen.
Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is wanted by Barcelona, according to The Sun.
It is thought the Spanish side are interested in bringing the 32-year-old, who is out of contract in July, to the Nou Camp to add some experience to their back four.
Crystal Palace remain in the hunt for striking reinforcements after a loan move for Dominic Solanke collapsed, boss Roy Hodgson confirmed.
Jordan Ayew's first goal of the season and Luka Milivojevic's penalty secured a late but deserved 2-0 victory for the Eagles at Wolves on Wednesday.
The Eagles have scored just 19 times in 21 Premier League games this season and victory eased Palace's goal worries after a switch for Liverpool's Solanke fell through with concerns over his fitness.
What of Mesut Ozil? Well, according to his agent he wants to stay at Arsenal.
Unai Emery doesn't appear to be the German's biggest fan but that's not deterring him apparently.
"I would prefer not to speak publicly about Mesut's situation, but given the recent speculation linking him with a move away from Arsenal, I do feel it is important to provide some clarity so we can end this and focus on football," Dr Erkut Sogut said.
"Mesut signed a new contract last January because he saw his future at Arsenal and nothing has changed in his mind. He wants to stay for the duration of that contract and maybe even longer.
"Mesut is 100 per cent committed to Arsenal Football Club. He loves the club, shares its values and does not want to be anywhere else.
"He is proud to wear the shirt and honoured to represent Arsenal on and off the pitch. He takes his responsibilities - including being selected as one of the captains this season - very seriously and has a great relationship with his team-mates, the staff and fans."
Watford have no interest in selling Abdoulaye Doucoure this month.
The in-form midfielder is catching the eye this season with Paris Saint-Germain particularly interested.
But the Evening Standard say the 26-year-old is staying put, for now at least.
