Transfer Talk: Bruce retains hope of capturing Cabanas
Show all 1Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is monitoring the Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas after missing out on the Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi. Bruce has admitted his admiration for Cabanas, currently the leading scorer in Mexico with Club America and is looking to bring the player to Wearside on an initial loan deal. "He's a fantastic player," Bruce said. "He's somebody who would be of interest. Whether a deal is possible, I don't know. If he became available, there would be more clubs interested."
Gohouri signs on loan to shore up Latics defence
Ivory Coast defender Steven Gohouri has joined Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season. The 28-year-old, who was not called up for the African Nations Cup, has been a free agent since leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach. "He is a tremendous athlete, powerful in the air, strong in the tackle and technically excellent," manager Roberto Martinez said.
