James Olley, Chief Football Correspondent for the London Evening Standard, talks us through the various permutations surrounding Europe’s top goalkeepers.

Chelsea number two, Petr Cech is available for £10 million with Arsenal keen to capture the experienced goalkeeper. But, the frosty relationship between the two managers might be a stumbling block, along with the fact that Chelsea would be strengthening a title rival.

If Cech moves on, Chelsea may target QPR’s Rob Green as their back-up goalkeeper. But, it remains to be seen if Green would be content playing second fiddle at 35-years-old.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid are targeting Manchester United’s David De Gea as their marquee summer signing. De Gea has failed to quash rumours about a possible transfer to the Spanish giants; and it is likely he will move on. Real’s outgoing number one, Iker Casillas, could be used as part of a deal which would see him move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham fans will be hoping that’s the case as Spurs’ number one, Hugo Lloris, has repeatedly said he wants to play Champions League football – something which Man Utd can offer.

As soon as one player moves, the rest of the pack will follow.
