Younes Kaboul: West Ham 'close' to signing Tottenham Hotspur captain in £2.5m deal

The 29-year-old defender has fallen out of favour with Pochettino and looks set to make the move across London

The Tottenham captain Younes Kaboul appears set to make the short move across the capital to London rivals West Ham in a £2.5m deal.

The centre-back has been out of favour with manager Mauricio Pochettino, and had been linked with moves away to Roma and Besiktas, among others.

Kaboul had fallen behind Jan Vertonghen, Federico Fazio and the England Under-21s international Eric Dier, and Spurs are looking to cash in what they can for the 29-year-old.

Sky Sports News reported that West Ham were looking at bringing in a defender to replace the possibly outgoing Winston Reid. Kaboul would also be competing for a place alongside James Tomkins and James Collins.

The Hammers had been looking at Sylvain Distin and, according to the Guardian, Senegal’s Kara Mbodj before they settled on Reid.
