2018 Russia World Cup in numbers

Tickets are still available for as many as 20 World Cup 2018 games in Russia just 24 hours before the tournament kicks off, including for England’s opening game against Tunisia.

Russia’s opening game against Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki Stadium only sold out on Tuesday, while tickets remain for two of the three pricing categories for the Three Lions’ game on Monday in Volgograd.

120,000 extra tickets were released for the finals only last week, which Fifa insist is the reason for the large number of unsold seats and not as a result of a lack of public interest.

The tickets available for the England vs Tunisia game cost about £157 and £123 according to Fifa’s website, although the availability is “low”. The ticket sales website will remain open until the day of the final on 15th July.

Tickets are also available for lower-profile matches, including Egypt vs Saudi Arabia in the same stadium on 25th June.

Other games still with tickets remaining include Colombia v Japan, Panama v Tunisia (both in Saransk), Nigeria v Iceland in Volgograd and Croatia v Nigeria in Kaliningrad.
