The Ghana star, who was excellent in the brilliant 2-2 draw with Germany on Saturday night, got special permission from his manager Kwesi Appiah to visit the people of Maceio in the western state of Alagoas.
Ghana were training in the Estadio Rei Pele in the city on Thursday.
The 29-year-old took time to speak to children, pose for photographs and sign autographs, as well as put his hand in his pocket for the people.
The AC Milan man picked up a booking in Fortaleza against Germany, but performed admirably as Ghana took a surprise point from a team who had thrashed Portugal 4-0 on Monday.
Muntari also cuddles a pitch invader during the game, escorting him off the field.
Germany went in front through Mario Gotze before Andrew Ayew and then Asamoah Gyan put the African side in the lead.
However, Miroslav Klose equalised scoring his 15th goal in World Cups to draw level with Ronaldo as the highest World Cup goalscorer of all-time.
