Ahead of the final round of fixtures in Group E, we look at the various permutations.

The remaining games are Honduras vs Switzerland and Ecuador vs France. Both kick off at 9pm and are on the BBC.

France – A win or draw over Ecuador

Four years on from ‘la Révolution’, France are merely a draw away from returning to the knock-out stages of the World Cup. If they were to lose to Ecudaor by a large amount, only a big win for Switzerland over Honduras would keep the French from the Round of 16.

Ecuador – Must match Switzerland’s result and better their goal difference

Any result that better’s Switzerland’s final game will see Ecuador progress. They can still be caught out on goal difference but Ecuador currently have a 2 goal advantage.

Switzerland – A draw and a France win

Switzerland will require some help from the French to make the last 16. If France win against Ecuador, the Swiss need only a draw and one point to proceed in the competition.

Honduras - Must beat France and better Switzerland and Ecuador goal difference

Despite having no points so far in the competition, Honduras can still make the knockout stages. If they triumph over Switzerland and Ecuador lose to France, barring they have a sufficient goal difference over the two teams, Honduras will make the last 16.
