Mo Farah is one of the three finalists for the men’s 2013 World Athlete of the Year award, the IAAF has announced. Farah is up against Usain Bolt and Ukrainian high jumper Bohdan Bondarenko for the accolade, with the winner to be announced at the World Athletics Gala in Monaco on 16 November.
The Olympic 5,000 and 10,000 metres champion won gold again over both distances at the World Championships in Moscow in August to complete the double-double. He became only the second man after Ethiopian great Kenenisa Bekele to achieve that feat. No British man has won the award since Jonathan Edwards in 1995, the year he twice broke the triple jump world record on the way to winning the world title.
