Last night, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao went head-to-head in their only public appearance until fight week of the richest fight in the history of boxing.

  • Press conference took place in Los Angeles
  • Both sides decided against doing the usual media tour of America
  • Anticipated welterweight bout six years in the making
  • The combined purse for the bout is expected to top $300m (£201m)
  • Unbeaten Mayweather is an 11-time, five-division world champion
  • Pacquiao is an eight-division world champion
  • Mayweather's WBA and WBC welterweight title is on the line

When the bout was announced back in late February, WBC and WBA welterweight title holder Mayweather said: "This will be the biggest event in the history of the sport. Boxing fans and sports fans around the world will witness greatness on May 2."

WBO champion Pacquiao said: "I am very happy that Floyd Mayweather and I can give the fans the fight they have wanted for so many years.

"They have waited long enough and they deserve it. It is an honour to be part of this historic event.
