A professional mixed martial arts fighter proved actions speak louder than words when he taught a trash-talking internet troll a lesson by savagely defeating him in a match-up at his gym.

Josh Neer who has been a professional MMA fighter since 2003, destroyed “delusional” amateur Patrick Martin after the "wannabe fighter" had challenged Sneer to a fight.

After weeks of being taunted by Martin online, Neer, invited him to the gym for a private one-on-one bout.

Speaking to MMA online magazine, Bloody Elbow, Neer said: “Basically the guys a dumbass and been talking s*** about MMA fighters for a month.

”On and on, I usually ignore him but this Saturday he wrote me on Facebook the message I gave.

“He had written 10 messages to me talking s*** which I ignored, but this time I said if you really want to fight come to the gym Monday at 5:30.”

The result was predictable, with the man, who has the ringname “The Dentist”, savagely defeating the out of his depth Martin.

”I don't know what his problem is but he's a big guy, like 6ft 6in and 270 pounds and just acts like a bully. That what he seems like to me, just a bully.

“He showed up at 6:10, 40 mins into my practice. And then I asked him if he wanted to fight Rakim or me, Rakim is bigger than me, so of course he chose me.”

Neer decided to post a video of the fight online after Martin continued to post offensive messages about Sneer and other fighters following his defeat.

In reaction, Martin disputed the video, saying that before the footage he had shared a three minute round with Sneer, in which the man with a 51-14-1 professional record was unable to take him down.

He told MMAFighting.com: “He threw wild punches I dodged and counter and with my 16 ounce gloves I did all the punching also mixed a couple kicks in.

”Everything you see is after the round bell sounded as I turned away from him picking up my mouth piece I dropped after the round.

“He's adding all this talk, that I talk s*** about MMA fighters when I talked shit to him after disrespecting me about a wrestling drill I was tired in.”

Despite Neer gaining a lot of fans online from the fight, it may have him in hot water with the authorities.

MMA gyms are often required to sign waivers before unscheduled bouts in the gym, and it is unclear whether Martin signed one of these.

MMA fighters can be held to a different standard in the eyes of the law when it comes to fighting outside of the cage, due to their ability to cause lethal damage to a person.

Iowa Athletic Commission Executive Director Joe Walsh informedTMZ.com on Tuesday that the commission is currently investigating the incident.

“We are aware of the situation. I have our legal team taking a thorough look at our rules. We’re checking to see if we have anything on the books that covers this.” said Walsh.
