Point-to-point: Morgan makes the difference on Full Minty

Full Minty, who benefited from the assistance of Ran Morgan for the first time on his reappearance at Didmarton three weeks ago, can follow up that success in the mixed open (2.40) at Siddington today.

Last season Full Minty failed to finish in two hunter-chases under a less experienced rider, but he was always jumping well for Morgan and the second and third have both won since.

That Didmarton meeting should also provide another winner in the shape of Bon Accord, who won the intermediate there in a time nearly 10 seconds faster than Full Minty. Oxfordshire trainer Alan Hill is bringing along steadily this seven-year-old, who has won all three starts this season, and has found another suitable opportunity in the confined (2.05) at Siddington. Bon Accord will prove up to open class and will surely be seen in hunter chases soon.

The former smart hurdler Rigmarole is an interesting entry in the ladies' open (2.50) at Badbury Rings today. Still only nine, Rigmarole was rated 157 when he won the Kingwell Hurdle in 2004 and though he never took to fences under Rules the smaller obstacles in point-to-points may be more suitable. The fast ground at a track which dries out quickly will be in his favour, but he may not stay three miles and a safer option is Rimpton Boy.
