Racing: Bernadini just dandy for Godolphin
Electrocutionist is likely to drop back to 10 furlongs for his next start, a clash with Dylan Thomas at Leopardstown in September being high on his agenda.
Passed fit only at the eleventh hour after being cast in his box overnight, Electrocutionist made a typically valiant contribution to an epic race at Ascot on Saturday, beaten just half a length by Hurricane Run.
"We'll be looking at the Irish Champion Stakes for him now," Simon Crisford, the Godolphin manager, said yesterday. Electrocutionist will doubtless head to the Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs in November, but the Maktoums' most important runner there may instead be Bernadini.
Making his first appearance since running away with the Preakness Stakes in May, Bernadini won the Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday by nine lengths.
