Hull 28 Bradford 12: Yeaman completes Hull's sterling team effort

Hull continued their rich vein of form and moved to within one point of third-placed Bradford with a fine display of teamwork at the KC Stadium last night that delighted their new Australian coach, Peter Sharp. After taking their chances clinically in the first half to build a 10-point lead, Hull defended superbly in what was a scoreless but fascinating second half until Super League's leading scorer, Kirk Yeaman, clinched their fifth successive win in the last minute with his second of the night and 19th of the season to thrill the 12,000 crowd.

"It was a high-quality game of football: quick, tough and with great defence from both sides," Sharp said. "I enjoyed it. But it's not all beer and skittles, we have a lot of work to do."

Playing with confidence Hull fought back from conceding an early try to Michael Withers and a second to Karl Pryce, both created by Iestyn Harris's enviable array of kicking. Richard Horne's first score sandwiched the two Bulls tries as he arrowed over after a classic Ewan Dowes offload and Yeaman crashed through from Motu Tony's clever inside pass.

Two tries in as many minutes just before half-time wrested the momentum Hull's way. The outstanding Richard Swain committed the defence for Horne to slice over and then Lee Radford galloped over from Paul Cooke's bullet pass. Cooke garnished the win with four conversions, including one from the touchline as the final hooter sounded.
