The former Hull utility back Craig Poucher, who rejected a move to London Broncos after flying 12,000 miles to their training camp, has joined the National League One club Hull Kingston Rovers.

The move means the 22-year-old, who was released by Hull after four years at the Boulevard, will drop out of Super League but will achieve his aim of staying in the city.

"I now have the chance to play first-team football regularly," he said. "That's what I want and I am also playing in Hull – it's perfect." Hull KR's coach, Steve Linnane, said: "This is a very good signing for us. Craig is a quality player who had been chased by several clubs."

Poucher faced an uncertain future after he twice rejected a deal with the Broncos, the second time after flying to Sydney to join them for pre-season training. "I had time to think on the plane and, when I arrived, I just knew the move to London wasn't for me," he said.
