Wales open door for Harris to make international return

Iestyn Harris is to be invited to return to rugby league to play for Wales against New Zealand in November.

Harris, who left Leeds and switched codes to join Cardiff last year, is a possible addition to Neil Kelly's squad against the Kiwis. "You would always pose the question of whether a player of Iestyn's ability might be available and discreet enquiries have been made," said Kelly. "I don't know yet what the response has been, but we're not working on the presumption that he will be with us."

Harris is under contract in Wales until after next year's Rugby Union World Cup but has dropped out of favour recently, to the extent of being left out of Cardiff's first team. "This could give Iestyn the chance to show his paymasters what he's capable of and that he's still got what he had when he swapped over," Kelly said.

The advisory board running Halifax has sparked another round of rumours about the club's future by requesting a meeting with the Rugby League today. They deny any intention of dropping out of Super League next season.

The London Broncos have confirmed that they will be staying at Brentford's Griffin Park for the 2003 season.

Leigh could be without their Australian loose forward Adam Bristow if they reach the Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final. Bristow has been banned for two matches after being reported for a reckless high tackle. If Leigh beat Huddersfield in their first play-off match next weekend and go straight to the Grand Final, then Bristow would be ruled out of that match. They also have Vila Matautia appearing before the disciplinary committee on a striking charge next week.
