Widnes have signed the scrum-half, Dennis Moran, as part of a triple swoop on Wigan. The Australian was released last week to make way for Michael Dobson at the JJB, but has been recruited for the rest of the season by the National League One promotion candidates.

"I've said all along that we are looking to bring quality players into this club and Dennis is a prime example," the Widnes coach, Steve McCormack, said.

Widnes' previous overseas player, David Peachey, who was sacked by the club's chairman, Stephen Vaughan, for going home to visit his sick step-father, has described his treatment as "heartless". He has now joined South Sydney.

Widnes have also signed two forwards on a month's loan from Wigan. Jordan James and Oliver Wilkes were both recruited by the previous Warriors coach, Ian Millward, during an injury crisis. All three are in line to make their debuts at York this Sunday.

The St Helens and former Great Britain forward, Paul Anderson, is to join Huddersfield as assistant coach when he retires from playing at the age of 35 at the end of this season.

The Australian club, Parramatta, have announced that their back-row forward, Glen Morrison, is joining Bradford on a three-year contract next season.
