George Foreman, 48, went 12 rounds with 31-year-old Lou Savarese to earn a split decision in Atlantic City on Saturday. There were no knockdowns in the fight, but Savarese took cuts over his left eye and on his right cheek and had a point deducted by Eddie Cotton, the referee, in the 11th round for low blows after several warnings.

Nevill Brown demanded a rematch of the European middleweight championship bout against Hassine Cherifi, of France, in Swadlincote on Saturday, after the referee stopped the fight in the sixth round when the Englishman suffered a bad cut above the eye. Brown outclassed his opponent flooring him three times, twice in the first round, and believed the stoppage was premature.
