Golf: James heads for home
LEE JAMES, the asthma-suffering British amateur champion, failed to get past the first round in his bid to add the English title at Moortown yesterday.
The 21-year-old from Broadstone in Dorset, who two weeks ago was playing in the Open and next April will be competing in the US Masters, went down at the second extra hole to James Roberts, the Yorkshire county player, on another hot and humid day. 'I thought I was going to faint at one point and my legs nearly gave way,' James said. 'I've not been too bad all summer, but I really didn't feel good at all here. I ran out of inhaler.'
