Ian Poulter lifted by late salvo at the St Jude Classic in Memphis

Ian Poulter posted an opening round of 69 at the St Jude Classic in Memphis as he finalises his preparation for next week’s US Open at Merion.
Poulter picked up three birdies in his last four holes to finish three shots behind early clubhouse leader Nathan Green of Australia. Padraig Harrington and Brian Davis joined the Briton on one under par.
