Mark Lee came off the bench with less than 20 minutes to go and the score level to kick two drop goals to give Salford a 14-12 victory over Adelaide Rams at The Willows last night.

The scrum-half's first success after 68 minutes gave Salford the lead for the first time. With five minutes remaining, the Salford captain Steve Blakeley, who earlier missed a drop goal attempt from 15 metres made a midfield break and Lee duly did the rest to send the 6,995 crowd into raptures.

It was no more than Salford deserved for a committed performance against a side who looked as though they wanted to be on the first plane back Down Under. Even so they took the lead after just seven minutes and were 12-8 ahead at half-time but two penalties from Blakeley gave Lee the chance of glory.
