Lucas Radebe, the Leeds United defender, has been withdrawn from next month's African Nations' Cup finals after talks between the Elland Road manager, Howard Wilkinson, and the South African team doctor. Radebe is only just getting over a knee operation carried out nine months ago.

Manchester City have sold defender David Brightwell to Bradford City for pounds 30,000.

Bristol City have signed the Southampton striker Craig Maskell on a month's loan.

Vitalis Takawira, the Zimbabwean striker, and the Uruguayan midfielder Washington Rodriguez are the latest players to sign with Major League Soccer, the new US league, due to begin on 6 April.
