The FIA has announced New Jersey and Mexico have been included as provisional venues on an unprecedented 22-race Formula One calendar for 2014.
The Grand Prix of America should have taken place this year on June 16 - as part of a North American double header, with the Canadian Grand Prix the week before - but failed to do so because of financial issues.
But alongside Mexico and Korea, the event has been given provisional acceptance for the next year's campaign.
The troubled event in New Jersey, along the Hudson River and with the Manhattan skyline serving as a backdrop, is scheduled to be the eighth race of the campaign on June 1, with the race in Canada this time down for the following week.
The Korean Grand Prix is slated to be the fifth race of the calendar on April 27 and returns after missing out this season, although Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel clinched back-to-back victories on the Korea International Circuit in 2011 and 2012.
Mexico has also been included as a venue and will be hosting its first grand prix since 1992. The event will be contested on November 16, the penultimate race of the calendar, with the familiar location of Sao Paulo in Brazil hosting the finale two weeks later.
Next year could be a record-breaking calendar with 22 races - two more than the previous highest of 20 in 2012.
Austria returns to the calendar for the first time since 2003, while Russia is also included, subject to approval of the new circuit in Sochi.
As a result of Formula One Group and the FIA finally signing off on a new Concorde Agreement on Friday, Pirelli will continue to supply tyres, despite a controversial season.
The British Grand Prix was overshadowed by several high-speed blowouts, forcing the Italian tyre manufacturer to act swiftly to guarantee the safety of not just the drivers, but also fans and marshals.
A statement from the FIA said: "One of the noteworthy aspects of the new 2013 Concorde Agreement is the new tender procedure for appointing single suppliers in the tyre and fuel categories, for the FIA F1 World Championship.
"In this new process, the FIA will be confirmed as the body in charge of conducting the tender process. The Commercial Rights Holder will be entitled to run the commercial negotiations with potential suppliers, with a view to the selected single supplier being officially appointed by the WMSC.
"In order to cover the transition period and considering the contracts already settled by FOM and the Teams with Pirelli, the WMSC today confirmed that Pirelli may continue to supply tyres to competitors in the FIA F1 World Championship, subject to the requisite technical and safety standards of the FIA being met."
