Motorcycling: Cadalora ruins Doohan's weekend
Italy's Luca Cadalora took pole position for today's Czech 500cc Grand Prix - and ruined what had so far been a perfect weekend for the world championship leader, Michael Doohan. Doohan had led the two-day qualifying trials virtually from the start but on Cadalora's penultimate attempt in final practice, the Yamaha rider clocked the fastest lap of 2min 2.380sec, smashing the official track record by almost a full second. Doohan, riding a Honda, still put himself in a strong position to clinch the world crown, earning second spot on the first row in a time of 2:02.854.
