Luca Cadalora survived a fall from his 500cc Yamaha to set the fastest time in the final qualifying session for today's Malaysian Grand Prix. However, the Italian's best lap of 1min 25.382sec was not good enough to beat the 1:25.180 set by John Kocinski on Friday and the American will start the race in pole position. Cadalora suffered only light bruising in his fall but appeared badly shaken. Kocinski, bidding to repeat his victory at Eastern Creek in the opening race of the season, said his performance had been affected by the high temperature. 'The heat was terrible. I will be very disappointed if I lose the race just because I get tired,' he said. Kevin Schwantz, the world champion who is nursing a fractured arm after a mountain bike fall a month ago, only managed the 10th-

best time. 'The third row sucks and I'm obviously a long way from being happy,' the 29-year-old American said.
