Motorcycling: Doohan makes it four in a row
Michael Doohan, the world championship leader, held off a fierce challenge from Brazil's Alexandre Barros to win the Dutch 500cc Grand Prix at Assen. It was the Australian's fourth successive victory and the fifth in seven races for Honda, and he now has 161 championship points with seven races to go. Alex Criville, of Spain, finished third. Kevin Schwantz, the world champion, who won at Assen last year, was fifth despite riding with a cast to protect a broken hand. That kept him second in the standings, 42 points adrift.
