The GM Vauxhall Conference champions, Stevenage Borough, last night issued a High Court writ against the Football League and its bottom club, Torquay United. Stevenage were prohibited from replacing Torquay in the Third Division because they failed to meet the stadium criteria stipulated by the Football League before its 31 December deadline. After the League called off a meeting with the club scheduled for yesterday, Stevenage initiated legal action. Their solicitor, Chris Williams, said: "We believe that the League's criteria for admission is unfair and discriminatory."
Jimmy Rimmer, the former Manchester United and Aston Villa goalkeeper, has been sacked as Swansea City's youth team manager.
