Iran are set to take part in next year's London Olympics despite a bizarre complaint to the International Olympics Committee that they believed the Games' logo spelt "Zion."

Press TV, a station backed by Tehran, quoted an Iranian official saying that the nation's athletes would "participate gloriously."

Iran had written to the IOC asking for the logo to be withdrawn. The Iranians claimed its resemblance to the word Zion meant it was racist. But the secretary of Iran's Olympic organising committee, Bashram Afsharzadeh, said: "We will participate and play gloriously in London Games."
