England have appointed former international athlete Vikki McPherson as head of Great Britain performance for the London 2012 Olympics. McPherson will take on some of the responsibilities of Ian Moss, who left his post as performance director last week.

The Scot, who helped Britain win bronze at the 1998 World Cross Country Championships, leaves the English Institute of Sport to take up the role and has previously worked for UK Sport and UK Athletics.

She said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to work with badminton at this crucial time and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the world-class system that Badminton England have established."
