Jason Weaver has high hopes of making a glorious return to the saddle with a victory in the pounds 75,000-added Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster tomorrow.

His mount Poteen, trained by Luca Cumani, is rated as possibly the best two-year-old the stable has had since Barathea.

Weaver has been banned for a total of 42 days this season - his last being a nine-day spell on the sidelines.

The rider was given a great boost when Cumani booked him to partner the heavily-backed Poteen in the Group One contest.

"Jason went to Newmarket to give the horse a work-out yesterday and he was most impressed and people at the stable tell him the horse is the best since Barathea," said Norman.

Weaver has rides in all seven races at Doncaster.
