Racing: Club ruling angers Cole
SIMON BURROUGH lost his appeal yesterday against a 10- day ban for his riding of the Henry Cole-trained Just So in the Grand National Trial at Chepstow last Saturday.
The Jockey Club's disciplinary committee found that Burrough used his whip with unreasonable frequency, wealed and injured the horse, hit him in the wrong place, and hit him when clearly winning. But Cole said: 'The inconsistency of these stewards' decisions is just bad publicity for racing. All they are doing is fuelling the cause of these anti- hunting and animal-rights campaigners. Just So came out of the race marvellously well and without a mark on him.'
