BRIDGE OF FIRE: Drifted from 8-1 to 12-1 in the betting for a Ripon maiden on Monday, and was not knocked about on his debut. However, this gelding could well have won had his rider been able to find room to challenge a furlong out. After that, the gelding was not persevered with and finished fourth, only two lengths behind the winner, Far Fetched. (J W Watts)
