YORK

2.10: BLESSINGINDISGUISE won this race under top weight last year and can repeat the act off a handicap rating 6lb lower. He finished alongside Lago Di Varano last time out and a 2lb pull gives him the edge. Mick Easterby's campaigner went on to Ascot glory immediately after his win in this 12 months ago and rates a snip at the weights on that performance, racing off an 11lb lower mark. Antonia's Double is the danger with her early pace and I Cried For You will be a late finisher with his improved form over six-furlongs.

2.40: JUST GIFTED has a fine chance, at the weights, of beating his older rivals. Richard Whitaker thought him good enough to take on Lujain on the course in September and, though found wanting in that class, the colt gave signs of being up to landing a handicap when third at Pontefract last month. Whitaker, a local trainer, has snapped up Michael Roberts and there are no stamina problems with Just Gifted having run over a longer trip at Pontefract.

3.10: Peter Makin, whose improved run continued with a winner of a competitive handicap at Newmarket on Tuesday, has booked the crack American Gary Stevens for 1,000 Guineas failure, IMPERIAL BEAUTY, who so nearly turned over Wannabe Grand in the Cheveley Park Stakes over today's trip.

3.40: Celestial Welcome had TOUGH LEADER back in fourth when winning last Saturday's Old Newton Cup at Haydock, but Ben Hanbury's charge, who won this race last year, will be better suited by today's faster going and can reverse the form. Hanbury has already won two handicaps at Newmarket this week with similarly highly-rated horses who fall just below Group class. Angus-G, Celestial Welcome's stablemate, is hard to fancy on latest form, but all the other runners can be given a chance, notably Rum Pointer, who should have had more use made of him at Newcastle last time.
