Racing: Maguire to the wire
THE race for the jump jockeys' championship looked over at three o'clock yesterday afternoon as Richard Dunwoody extended his lead to seven with victory on Ghia Gneuiagh at Uttoxeter.
Ninety minutes later, however, the title was wide open again after the champion's nearest pursuer, Adrian Maguire, compiled a quick hat- trick on the same card. Dunwoody is likely to lose one of his 194 winners, as one his mounts has failed a drugs test, and the gap, in effect, is now down to three.
Both men compete at Stratford today, the penultimate jumps' card of the season.
