JEFF PENZA, the Australian jockey based with Clive Brittain at Newmarket this season, opened his account in this country on Little Rousillon at Kempton yesterday. It was his eighth ride in Britain.

The 22-year-old, who had been in and out of the sauna for two days getting down to 7st 7lb, has fallen foul of the authorities over his use of the whip - he starts a four-day ban on Monday - but it was John Williams who transgressed the rules yesterday.

After getting Bookcase home by the shortest of short heads from Bigwheel Bill, he too picked up a four-day suspension. The stewards ruled that he had used the stick excessively and incorrectly in hitting Bookcase down the shoulder.

Sharon Millard, another 22- year-old, notched her first win on Albert in the Florence Nagle Girl Apprentices Handicap.
