Racing: Racing soaked again

JUMPS RACING today hinges on a 7.30am inspection at Southwell following the abandonment of the day's other turf meeting at Carlisle. Southwell was raceable yesterday but overnight rain is forecast.

Newton Abbot's card tomorrow is another to be abandoned due to waterlogging. It is the fourth successive fixture the West Country track has lost.

The BHB has given the go-ahead for a five-race all-steeplechase card, including the Victor Chandler Chase, at Ascot on Friday as the hurdles course may prove unraceable. If the weather relents, the course will stage an eight- race card.
