3.05: OWINGTON faces a tough task here against older, battle- hardened sprinters of the calibre of Catrail and College Chapel, and must also concede weight to fellow three-year-olds of the potential of Mutakddim and Redoubtable. But Geoff Wragg's colt can prove equal to the task, despite being penalised for his three-length win a Group Three race at York last month. That victory was so authoritative that he may well outclass even this field.

3.45: Vintage Crop's globe-trotting exploits have confirmed his class and durability, factors which will ensure he starts at short odds. His success in the Melbourne Cup was a triumph but is hard to evaluate today, particularly as this afternoon's event is over an additional four furlongs and the ground may be livelier than he likes. RAINTRAP, who will not be troubled by the going, has been trained by his powerful stable specifically for this season's Cup races in Europe and could be very special.

4.20: The aura of invincibility around Peter Chapple-Hyam's juveniles has been dispersed decisively this week and, on this fast ground, General Monash would look vulnerable even were he not pitted against PRINCELY HUSH. Michael Bell's colt, who numbers the smart subsequent winners Sri Pekan, Limerick Belle and Statom among his victims, boasts the strongest form of any two-year-old and should prevail.
