Bath, the Courage League champions, could face a trip to Romania in next season's Heineken European Cup. Details of the expanded competition, which will feature English and Scottish sides for the first time, were announced yesterday, with Bath being drawn in Pool A with Edinburgh, the third-placed Heineken League Welsh side and the winner of a play-off between Dynamo Bucharest and the Italian League runners-up.

The Leicester front row of Graham Rowntree, Richard Cockerill and Darren Garforth have been chosen for the Barbarians to play against Ireland in the Peace International in Dublin on 18 May. The rest of the side will be finalised when the southern hemisphere players become available towards the end of the Super-12 Tournament.

Neath have caused a surprise in their team to play Pontypridd in Saturday's Swalec Cup final by preferring Robin Jones at blind-side flanker to the 6ft 8in Andrew Kembery, a try-scorer against Llanelli last Friday.
