Fiji star puts Saracens on top

The Fijian Kameli Ratuvou scored two tries on his return to the Saracens team as his side won a bonus point in their victory over Bristol yesterday that puts them top of their EDF Energy Cup pool.

England's Andy Farrell joined Fijian duo Moses Rauluni and Ratuvou for their first appearances of the season as Alan Gaffney's men made light work of their opponents, 45-15.

Sarries, making 10 changes from last week's win over Leeds Carnegie, had a 6-0 lead inside 15 minutes thanks to two Gordon Ross penalties. The visitors then enjoyed their only spell of first half pressure which resulted in Saracens' lock Hugh Vyvyan being sin-binned for pulling down a maul on his own line.

Bristol captain Joe El Abd opted to tap the penalty and was rewarded when hooker David Blaney scored his first try of the season. But Ross was on target with the boot once more as Saracens reasserted their early control, and they had their first try after 33 minutes when Samoan prop Cencus Johnston burst down the left wing, offloading to Edd Thrower who gave Ratuvou the simple task of diving over the line.

On the hour Vyvyan took a quick tap penalty five metres out and powered through three defenders to score. Glen Jackson added the extras and then put Vyvyan through a gap after the restart, who fed Dave Seymour to score under the posts. Blaney replied with his second but Ratuvou crossed to secure Saracens a bonus point and replacement Andy Kyriacou added a fifth score.

London Irish were smashed 51-16 by the Ospreys who have won both EDF matches. The Exiles are yet to get off the mark and were totally outplayed.
