Stuart Lancaster has confidence in new England coaching pair

England's next focus is the tour of Argentina

Stuart Lancaster is confident Rob Baxter and Paul Gustard are the ideal coaches to help England ensure their “hugely significant” tour of Argentina this summer is also a successful one.

Baxter, the Exeter head coach, and Saracens' defensive guru Gustard have been seconded to England for the four-match, two-Test tour while Graham Rowntree and Andy Farrell are on British and Irish Lions duty.

Lancaster said: "We are delighted to have two quality coaches who have come through the English system for what will be a hugely significant tour for us.

"It was important that we found two coaches who could mirror the skill set of Graham and Andy while they are away and come in and keep developing the players within our system.

"Paul, having worked together with Andy at Saracens, already has a good understanding of how we operate and Rob, who has done a great job in developing a very competitive Exeter pack, will pick up the set piece and breakdown.

"Both will work alongside Mike Catt as part of our integrated coaching team and we are looking forward to them joining us after their club commitments finish on what is an important tour in our development as a team."

Baxter, Premiership Rugby's coach of the year last season, is set to link up with England ahead of their pre-tour fixture against the Barbarians on May 26.

Gustard, who runs the meanest defence in the Premiership with Saracens having conceded only 17 tries in 18 matches, will join England when his club commitments are over.

If Saracens reach the Premiership final, then Gustard would join Lancaster's management team on the flight to Argentina.

England play two midweek matches and two Test against the Pumas.
