The wasps manager, Nigel Melville, is backing Joe Worsley to recover from his England omission, starting at the Premiership champions, Leicester, today.

Worsley did not make England's 22 for this afternoon's encounter with Australia, but his presence in a Wasps side shorn of Lawrence Dallaglio, Phil Greening, Kenny Logan and Rob Henderson, will be crucial.

"Of all the back-row players this season, Joe is the one who stands out," Melville said. "If anything he should be getting a game, not just sitting on the bench."

Wasps are just five points behind leaders Saracens, although Leicester have not lost a league match at Welford Road since December 1997.

Gloucester miss only Phil Vickery and Olivier Azam for the visit of Saracens to Kingsholm. Sarries, in contrast, have no Kyran Bracken, Dan Luger, Richard Hill, Danny Grewcock, Scott Murray or an injured Thomas Castaignÿde.

Rotherham visit fellow strugglers Bristol and North-ampton host third-placed Newcastle at Franklin's Gardens.
