Terry Venables may resign as England coach if Alan Sugar's libel case against him interrupts European Championship preparations, the Mail on Sunday reports. The Spurs chairman hopes to have the case, arising from Venables' autobiography, heard early next year.

Anders Limpar may be heading back to Highbury, according to the News of the World, the People and the Mail. Everton manager Joe Royle says Arsenal have approached him, although the People also quote Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch as knowing nothing.

The man who took the Swede to Highbury, George Graham, hinted that he will not appeal against his suspension for financial irregularities. "I may go to college," he says in the People, "though I'm not sure what I'll study."

Nigel Clough may escape Anfield at last, the People says. He has been training at Wolves, and the paper says Liverpool manager Roy Evans may accept pounds 1m.
