Ormond's full-time training pays off

Sophie Ormond, the French-based 18-year-old who works with the French Europa Cup Team, retained both the downhill titles she won on the same slopes last year in Tignes, France. In the morning, she proved the advantage of her full-time training programme by winning the British downhill title by 0.56sec from Tessa Pirie, and then held Pirie by 1.76sec in the afternoon to win the junior downhill title. Austria's Hermann Maier continued to demoralise his rivals with his fifth World Cup race win of the season in a super-G in Schladming, Austria, while Germany's Martina Ertl beat here compatriot Katja Seizinger to win the women's World Cup giant slalom in Bormio.
