STEPHEN ROCHE, the 32-year-old former Tour de France winner, said yesterday that he will retire at the end of next season. The Irishman, who has been enjoying his best season since 1987, when he won the Tours of France and Italy, as well as the world championship, announced his decision during the Paris-Bourges race.
