JOHN KOCINSKI and Wayne Gardner upstaged the world title rivals, Michael Doohan and Wayne Rainey, in yesterday's final practice for today's crucial South African 500cc Grand Prix. The Yamaha rider Kocinski headed qualifying with a late run of 1min 39.548sec. The injured Doohan, defending a two-point championship lead ahead of the season's final race, was third, 0.042sec ahead of the Yamaha of the title-holder, Rainey.
