IVAN LENDL, the third seed, beat his old rival John McEnroe 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Players' Canadian Open in Toronto. McEnroe, beaten six times in succession by Lendl, now plans to cut back on his playing commitments. Lendl now meets the Australian Wally Masur.
