With reference to the letter "Cross-code criticism'' by Mr D. Rice of Ashby-de-la-Zouch (17 January), I feel I must put one or two matters straight.

First, if Jason Robinson could kick goals like Jon Callard, then he would without doubt be selected ahead of the former England No 15 every time.

Second, I have been a follower of Harlequins for the past eight years, and in that time I have seen no finer all-round rugby player than Gary Connolly.
